Members and non-members can access the new engraving webpage by visiting the following weblink at: Engraving

Here is an excerpt from Ivan’s Engraving webpage:

“Engraving is the practice of incising a design onto a hard, flat surface, by cutting grooves into it. The result may be a decorated object in itself, as when silver, gold or steel are engraved, or may provide an intaglio printing plate, of copper or another metal, for printing images on paper, which are called engravings. Engraving was a historically important method of producing images on paper, both in artistic printmaking, and also for commercial reproductions and illustrations for books and magazines. It has long been replaced by photography in its commercial applications and, partly because of the difficulty of learning the technique, is much less common in printmaking, where it has been largely replaced by etching and other techniques.”

User’s can find more engraving information on Ivan’s Engraving website at: Engraving. Engraving and CNC aren’t necessarily two topics that come together in people’s mind but they are intertwined more than one may think. 2008-Mar-4 - Rapid Prototyping Explained

Posted in CNC

Rapid Prototyping information has just been added to a new CNC Prototyping section on Ivan’s CNC Community Website.

Rapid Prototyping has become very popular in the past few years, especially its connection to CNC. Thus, Ivan Irons has just added a new section on Rapid Prototyping to his CNC Information website. This Prototyping section brings the CNC users everywhere into the latest cutting edge technology on Rapid Prototyping by providing the latest and greatest rapid prototyping information. This information can be found on Ivan’s CNC Community website and is free to the public to access at: http://www.cncinformation.com/rapid-prototyping-prototyping-cnc-prototype/.

Ivan add’s his own simplified definition of Rapid Prototyping on this webpage at http://www.cncinformation.com/rapid-prototyping-prototyping-cnc-prototype/ saying:

“Rapid prototyping takes virtual designs from computer-aided design (CAD) or animation modeling software, transforms them into thin, virtual, horizontal cross-sections and then creates each cross-section in physical space, one after the next until the model is finished. It is a WYSIWYG process where the virtual model and the physical model correspond almost identically.
With additive fabrication, the machine reads in data from a CAD drawing and lays down successive layers of liquid, powder, or sheet material, and in this way builds up the model from a series of cross sections. These layers, which correspond to the virtual cross section from the CAD model, are joined together or fused automatically to create the final shape. The primary advantage to additive fabrication is its ability to create almost any shape or geometric feature.
The standard data interface between CAD software and the machines is the STL file format. An STL file approximates the shape of a part or assembly using triangular facets. Tiny facets produce a higher quality surface. “
There are also a multitude of articles that go in-depth into Rapid Prototyping and these articles can be found at: http://www.cncinformation.com/rapid-prototyping-prototyping-cnc-prototype/.

Ivan has just added a list of CNC Forums on his new CNC Forum webpage that can be found at CNCInformation.com.

CNC Forum Information is just the latest topic Ivan has added to his CNC Information webpage. Although CNC Information has its own CNC Forum where users can find answers to questions on a variety of topics and post questions that have not yet been answered in the forum, Ivan has created a different CNC Forum webpage that is now released. This CNC Forum webpage is not a Computer Numerical Forum, but a CNC Forum resource that talks about things related to Forums in general and then specific CNC Forums. This forum webpage is a good resource for beginners who may have never used Forums before or who are looking for various CNC related forums that are out on the World Wide Web as we speak. Members and non-members of CNC Information have access to view this webpage at the following website address: CNC Forums

Ivan spends some time on this new CNC Forum webpage to help new users who are interested in forums to learn about forums and specifically CNC Forums. Here is an excerpt from the CNC Forum webpage located at: CNC Community
“There are a number of CNC forums out there that will give you great information about CNC.  There is The CNC Forum, CNC zone, and of course this website CNC information.  Inside of CNC forums, you can ask questions of other members and they will respond.  In this way, a lot of CNC information is covered and available for future reference by other members.  Think of it as an ongoing encyclopedia of CNC information. When you are inside of different CNC forums it is customary that you search for the answer first.  If you can't find the answer to your question then you can start a new thread in a particular forum.  Think of it.  Wouldn't you want someone to search for the answer first before just rattling it off.  Members of CNC forums continually answer the same questions because people don't take the time to search for the answer. “
Ivan will continually add information on CNC Forums as it becomes available so users should check back to the CNC Forum webpage at CNC Forums for the latest and greatest information.

“Motion control is a sub-field of automation, in which the position and/or velocity of machines are controlled using some type of device such as a hydraulic pump, linear actuator, or an electric motor, generally a servo. Motion control is an important part of robotics and CNC machine tools, however it is more complex than in the use of specialized machines, where the kinematics are usually simpler. The latter is often called General Motion Control (GMC). Motion control is widely used in the packaging, printing, textile and assembly industries. “

Ivan will continually update information throughout the launch of his CNC Community website. Users should check back often at: Ivan's Control Website to get the latest CNC Motion Control Information.
