An identity theft affidavit is very important. In order to remove the debts created by the identity theif you will need to send an affidavit to the company or creditor holding the debt. When you contact them to close the accounts ask what forms they require. The id theft affidavit permits them to investigate the claim – it does not ensure that the debt will be cleared.
