Dating Asian Women

Interracial dating has become a rising phenomenon over the last forty years. Asian people are a large part of this movement. With many Asian people dating outside there race there have been many issues for some. These issues tend to occur for those people who are flooded in their own ancestry and not westernized too much. For those Asian Americans who are several generations of American there does not seem to be a lot of issues.

One of the most amazing issues that stems from interracial dating for Asian people would have to be for the women. Many American men have it in their head that to have a partner who is Asian will only mean that they will have a very submissive and obeying partner. Many of the men being quite disappointed when this stereo type turns out to not be the case.

Although many women in the Asian culture are taught from a very early age that they are to be somewhat obedient to men and men being taught to honor and protect women it tends to have a different kind of meaning to Americanized men. Although this kind of thought seems insane to some people who are not of an Asian culture it really is a matter of balance that they are taught. It is a yin/yang matter of thought. The women are not taught to be slaves but to balance out the traits that a man has and vice a versa. This all flows in a matter of harmony and respect.

Another misconception of the westernized mind is that an Asian woman would be of a very sexual nature. This thought could perhaps be caused by the way Japanese Geisha were construed during the World War. Many thought of as whores there for the pleasure of the American G.I. This was not the case at all. This idea seems to carry on into even this day when western thinking makes all Asian women extremely happy to please their man in a sexual nature.

Many American men do seek Asian women as partners because of the stereotypical ideas. When Asian women do not respond in the ways the man expected it may cause problems. Leaving the woman looking for another partner and hopefully not one so naïve.

There are certain things to keep in mind thought when dating an Asian woman. That if they are not westernized or there family that there will be a matter of honor and respect that is to be given to them and there family. In Asian cultures families are extremely honored and important. They have much to say about dating and marriage.

As with any interracial dating one has to keep in mind the other partner’s culture. Having a relationship that is solely one sided will not benefit anyone. Keeping true to ones culture is important for most people. While dating outside of your race/culture it is important to keep this in mind. Enlightening your self to the ways of a different culture can be exciting and sometimes a bit frustrating. But with respect for the one you are dating and their culture there is always room for learning.

With keeping a few important things in mind all will be well. Casting away stereotypes is a first important step though. Do not date outside your race strictly because of what you see in movies or other things. Date because you fall in love with someone looking past the color of their skin or the culture they belong to. This will help with a relationship that will like all others always have some kind of issue how ever big or how ever small it may be.
