Views on interracial dating.

The views that society has on interracial dating and interracial marriages have greatly changed over the years.  It was only about forty years or so ago that the anti-miscegenation laws were changed because they were found unconstitutional.  Even though it was only forty years ago there have been massive changes in the attitude that people have towards interracial dating.  And although forty years may sound like a long time, in comparison of the centuries that interracial dating was against the law forty years is only a drop in the bucket.

There has been a lot of growth in the way that people perceive interracial dating now.  Through many poles it has come about that %83 of Americans are alright with interracial dating and have no problem with it.  There is always going to be some people who are against certain beliefs no matter what they are.  Eventually every one will be open to interracial dating and it will be wonderful.  Poles today have shown that the majority of teenagers are either in an interracial relationship or are totally open to being in an interracial relationship with someone. They have no problem with any kind of interracial dating and that is a wonderful thing.  Because if you had asked teenagers forty years ago what they thought about interracial dating your answers would have been entirely different, if they even answered and not just walked away, for that matter you probably would not have asked that question forty years ago at all.  That shows a lot of progress and it is something that we as a society should be quite proud of.

It has been shown that in America there are a certain number of people who are in interracial relationships and what the percentages are may be surprising to some people.  First it shows that in demographic surveys Asian American females are 2.5 times more likely to a male that is white than Asian. A survey done in the year 2000 showed that %45 of Asian Pacific women married white males. Black males are 2.5 times more likely to marry a white female, than a black female is to marry a white male.  In another survey done in the year 2000 it showed that Hispanic people that were born in the United States are one third more likely to marry non-Hispanic whites.  Many people who are against interracial dating are not always outright racists.  Many times you will have people who feel that a member of their race has “sold out” by marrying or involving themselves in an interracial relationship.  African American females are typically the most resistant to dating outside of the race where as Asian and Hispanic people are more open to the idea.

For those people who do not really believe that interracial dating or interracial marriages should be accepted they sometimes are not as vocal with their ideas as others.  That is to say that you may not think that a person has a problem with the idea of interracial dating because they will not voice their views openly but a lot of times that is the case. You may instead find them staring rudely or making rude gestures at an interracial couple.  For those people who are open about their true  beliefs and find that kind of rudeness offensive just let the other person know that they are offending you and they are free to leave the area if they are so inclined.  Eventually we can rid ourselves of hatred of all kinds and interracial dating will be openly accepted by all people all over the world.
