Interracial Dating

Black women dating white men.

When someone mentionsinterracial dating the image that pops into most people’s minds is of a black man dating a white women.  That is how many people automatically picture interracial dating.  However the growing trend of interracial dating is now white men dating black women.

The growing number of interracial couples that are in fact white men and black women are astounding.  There has been a giant shift from black women who only dated black men to more and more black women opening up their minds and finding many other men to date that are outside of their race.  By opening up to other races of men a women can expand the type of men that she meets and can date.  There are of course people who feel this is not the right thing to do but does it really matter the color of someone’s skin if you love them.  For some reason the majority of society has found it easier to accept a black man dating a women of another race, whether it is a white woman or an Asian woman or a Latina woman society just accepts it easier.  But if a black women dates outside of her race there seems to be a bigger controversy about it.

There have been many studies done over the last few years that show that there are a higher percentage o f African American females in higher education schools than there are of African American males.  African American males will be found either dead or in jail in higher numbers than you will find them in college. It is a sad truth and for this reason many African American women are finding it hard to find a suitable mate.  This is one study that has been done and also it is one reason that is given for the increased number of interracial dating between black women and white men.  Whether or not it is true no one can really say for sure but there are numbers to support the statement.

Another reason that is given for the increase in interracial dating between black women and white men is that more and more black women feel it is perfectly alright to date outside of their race and have no qualms about it.  It may have taken society a little longer to become accepting of black women dating white men but now we see that there is a very large amount of people who interracial date in this manner.

Interracial dating has come a very long way and there are many people who have gone through a lot of hateful words and stares over the years and unfortunately even worse things than that to make sure that people can date whom ever they would like to date.  Interracial dating was at one time outlawed.  That is right interracial dating was against the law for many places and in fact was still on the law books in some places up until the 1960’s.  Interracial dating has certainly come a long way.  When you look at today’s youth a significant number of them feel that it is perfectly ok to date someone outside of your own race.  And that is not even mentioning the number of today‘s youth that are actually are interracially dating.  There is a clear movement to more and more acceptance in the society we live in today for interracial dating. So for all of those black women who are dating white men or asian men or latino men I say good for you.  It is wonderful when you can find love in a healthy relationship and if it is in an interracial relationship it should not matter to anyone.
