• 30 April 2008 - Why Is Software So Irritating?

Software can change our lives. In the same way that many women think a new dress will make just the difference they have been searching for, so many men, and some women, think the same about software.

It comes full of promise and expectation. But rarely does it live up to either. Try loading on to your computer running Vista and see what happens? Perhaps that is unfair. I'm sure Vista is getting better! Is it?

The truth is that we load the stuff and then we set out to use it. First, the instructions are appalling, written for another geek but not for you, secondly you discover that it only does half of what you expected ( you didn't read the packet properly), and thirdly you are smarting because it was expensive.

All I can say is, "that's life!" Not very encouraging I know, but that is my thought for the day.
