Some people wonder what are the best online degrees available. My answer to this is: it depends on what you're after.

Online degrees are, sadly, not as recognized as traditional credentials. If you plan to earn a degree online, consider that employers tend to devalue its worth and academics turn up a nose to its prestige. For me, education gained from distance learning institutions serve just one purpose: to further one's knowledge. Beyond that, don't expect too much from the 'prestige' and recognition angle. A few companies, like IBM, GE and Microsoft do send their employees to distance learning colleges. If you work here, then apply for a degree online. Otherwise, stick with a traditional university. You'll attract better career prospects this way
