If you feel that you are dealt good cards then you should follow a few rules and guidelines.  If you get a pair of tens or higher you should let it ride, minimum payout being one of one.  Three of a kind you should let it ride  and your minimum payout would be three of one.  If you get  dealt three cards to a straight flush, you can win in many of ways, with a straight, flush or even a straight flush. Definitely let it ride!!!  Three cards to a royal flush, follow the rules as same as above, let it ride.  Three cards to a flush/ possible straight with two ten value cards is typically a weak hand and should be folded.  Three card flush,  j,9,8, 10,9,7  or 10,8,7, is not as good as the other let it rides I have already described to you. 

But they are full of real possibilities.  Let it ride for the first three cards, wait for the fourth card betting.  K,q,j, or q,j,10, let it ride just as the last one on the first three cards then make your decision on the forth and second betting.  At this point you are either out of the game or letting it ride on the fourth card.  Now you will see the dealers exposed card.  When you see that first exposed card you have either made the hand or not.  When you have a guaranteed pair of tens or higher you just let it ride.  Most of the time you will have maybe hands which may be turned into winners and that is where the gambling begins and the decision making begins.  The hands with potential  are known as payable hands.  Four of a kind is a guaranteed winner that pays out fifty to one.  Three of a kind is again a guaranteed winner which pays out three to one.  Two pair is also a guaranteed winner which pays out two to one.  Four to a flush also pays out.  Four cards to an opened ended straight, odds are not too much against you so let it ride.  Four cards to a high straight, odds are against you.   You have been dealt and inside or one way straight, the odds are defiantly not in your favor.

With a lot of time and practice you will learn how to aim for those high paying pots and will start to be able to read your hand and what you may or may not have to bet on.
