Roulette is a wonderful game to play.  Although it is not the most popular type of casino game in America, roulette is one of the most popular games to play when gambling in places like Monte Carlo.  Since the game of roulette has such a long legacy in Europe it is not a surprise that so many people still love to play roulette.  Roulette is a very exciting game to play and there are many people who actually only play roulette when they gamble.

One of the first things to remember when you are playing roulette is to know what kind of bets you are going to place.  First of all you always have to watch the roulette tables.  You must know what roulette table you are on and what its limits are.  Make sure that you realize what kind of roulette table you are on and if it is a higher or lower limits table.  You do not want to make the mistake of being on a higher limit table and what you think is your maximum bet is in reality not even close to the roulette table’s minimum bet.  So keep an eye out for what the limits are on the roulette table that you choose to play on is.  The limits for maximum and minimum bets are typically posted some where on the roulette table.

Now let us talk about the type of bets that you can do and how to do them.  There are many different ways that a person can bet when they are playing roulette.  The outside bets are quite popular with those people who are trying to make money in small moves.  The types of bets that are considered outside bets are red or black bets, odd or even bets, betting on the numbers one through eighteen or nineteen through thirty six, dozens, or columns.  The red or black bets are easy.  There are eighteen numbers that are red and then there are eighteen numbers that are black.  The player who makes a red or black bet will get even money paid to them if the ball falls on a black number if they bet on black or a red number if they bet on red.  Even money is when you get to keep the original bet plus the equal amount back. 

The odd or even bet is very similar to the red or black bet and actually also pays out even money.  As a player you must bet on either even numbers or odd numbers in order to win the bet.  That is a relatively easy bet and should be good to start your gambling adventure on.  Another even money bet is a picking the ball will land on any number from one to eighteen or the ball will land on any number from nineteen to thirty six.  However if the ball lands on the zero or the double zero all of the even money bets will lose. 

There is a key note when it comes to the French roulette wheel.  There is a rule that is called the en prison rule.  This says that if the player will not automatically lose their bet if the ball falls on zero.  Instead of losing their bet the bet must stay in the same place for the next spin.  If on the next spin the bet wins the original bet is released.  This rule is not in effect when it comes to the American version of roulette and its rules.  And in fact it is very rare that you will even find the rule in effect even when playing on a French roulette wheel.
