Vintage cars are something that we truly should love and appreciate these days since there are so few around anymore. Now a vintage car is something of a debate, well as far as what dates make it a vintage car. Typically a vintage car is any car that was built from the year 1919 up until the year 1930. There are certain people though that will tell you that the vintage era ended closer to the year 1925 than the year 1930. The start of the vintage era is not what people debate about at all it is actually the end of the vintage era. You see the British enthusiasts will tell you that the end of the vintage era would be 1930 and that is a very strict definition for them. However many American people would consider the cut off date for the vintage car era to end at the year 1925. This is because it would be the “pre-classic car” period that is defined by the Classic Car Club of America. There are still those who consider the two periods of classic cars and vintage cars to overlap a bit at the end of the vintage car era and the beginning of the classic car era. There are those who simply consider the vintage car era to have been from the end of the World War l to the beginning of the World War ll. That makes it very easy to remember for a lot of people so that is widely used.
The vintage car era marked a time in many countries’ history that shows many cobbled roads being paved for the new cars that were making their way all across the country. People were beginning to get cars and they were stopping the use of other methods of transportation. By the end of the vintage car era you were much more likely to see a vintage car than you were likely to see a horse or carriage. With the construction of the many roads that were being paved for the vintage cars you also found a plethora of hotels and motels that were littering the sides of these new roads.
Not only were there changes to the roads of many lands but there were many changes to the vintage vehicles themselves. During the vintage car ear heating was introduced to many cars. This was in hopes to make cars much more comfortable for people. During the vintage car era antifreeze was also used to allow cars that were water cooled to be used all the year long. Four wheel braking from a pedal became an added addition to the vintage car and power steering was also introduced.
At the end of the vintage car era there were other changes that were made but not just with the car. Along with motels popping up all over major roads, drive in restaurants and other car friendly shops started sprouting all over the place. Society was really embracing the fact the cars were here to stay and they were preparing for it. The vintage car era is a wonderful time in the history of cars to really take a close look at. There were many important changes that were made and many we still use to day. | ||
