Getting a criminal record expunged can change your life.
- Posted at 07:52 on 2008-May-14 by Duncan Carver A criminal record is something that can follow you around for your entire life. Criminal records can be something that can hinder someone from moving on past a criminal offense and start to make a good life for them. Criminal records can be like a black cloud over someone’s head that keeps them down and struggling. And the only way to come out from underneath that black cloud is to have your criminal record expunged.
By having your criminal record expunged it will allow you to get jobs that you were not quite able to get before and to actually have a career in some fields that would be considered of limits if you had a criminal record. Criminal records can keep you back from succeeding in life at times. Of course not everyone suffers from a criminal record but the majority of people will find it very hard to live their lives in a way that they would like to live them in. The majority of people that do have criminal records have to live in a way that they really do not want to live like. They will have to take whatever jobs that they can come by and many times it is not at all the type of job that they would really like to have. It may just be the only type of job that they can actually get though. The job may not pay enough money for them to support themselves or whatever family they have and then it just becomes an even bigger struggle.
There are many things that having a criminal record can effect. Not only a job can be affected by having a criminal record but also where you live. Many places may not want to rent to someone with a criminal record and then they will not be able to live where they want to go. Having a criminal record can truly affect people’s lives in a negative way.
One way to fix that problem is to have a criminal record expunged. By having a criminal record expunged you will ensure that they can live a normal life just like society expects people to do. Now for all of those people who are outraged at the thought of a criminal record being expunged you have to know that the expunging of a criminal record is not at all for violent crimes. In fact there are many regulations that must be met before someone can actually have their criminal record expunged.
Some of them are that no violence can occur or any injuries can result in any of the crimes that were committed. That means that no one can be hurt due to a crime that happened and if there was an injury then the criminal record can not be expunged. Also there may not have been any kind of criminal activity for at least five years. This number may change depending on where you are and where the crime was committed. Any and all payments and fees or fines must have been paid and also any type of probation or parole must have been finished. There are many rules to having someone’s criminal record expunged. So if you are looking into having your criminal record expunged you should contact an attorney right away. If you live somewhere other than where the crime occurred and where the criminal record began you need to contact an attorney in that area. Having an attorney to file all of the necessary paperwork is essential as you can not have your criminal record expunged with out one. |
