So you have made a mistake we all do it more then a few times throughout our lives, but your mistake just happened to land you a criminal record that just seems to haunt you every single day.

The process of sealing your criminal record is called criminal record expungement. There are different requirements that you must fill in order to be granted this chance. If you have committed this one crime and this one crime only then you will most likely be able to qualify for it, but one of the additional requirements will me a specific length of time since your crime. If this is the case all you have to do is wait for that time to come and plead your case before the judge.

Each state has their own sets of requirements, so if you are looking online just be sure that you are looking at the right state. This will prevent you from getting to excited, or getting upset. The best thing that you can do is to search for a lawyer in your area and set up an appointment with them so that you can discuss your specific case and see what they can do for you.

The cost of this process will of course vary from case to case depending on your specific situation. There generally are no two cases alike, so the only real way to tell is by talking with the lawyer. You can find a lawyer by searching online or going through the yellow pages.

Getting your criminal record sealed is going to prevent anyone from knowing that you ever had a record at all. This is going to open up many new doors that have been closed tight since you got your record. It’s important that you understand that if you committed another crime after your record was sealed that it can be reopened by a judge. It just doesn’t go away. Criminal record expungement gives you the opportunity to make right what you have done wrong, so don’t abuse the chance because it can be taken away quicker then you got it.
