Change your life…have your criminal record expunged. - Posted at 09:46 on 2009-Jan-7 by Duncan Carver

Does anyone ever really know how a criminal record will affect them once all is said and done?  Is the fact of having a criminal record follow a person for the rest of their life even a consideration of theirs when they could be facing some sort of jail time.  Typically all people really care about is the fact that they do not want to go to jail and have their freedom taken from them.  There is also the cost of attorneys and any other fines that they may have to pay.  But a criminal record is the last thing that a person will think of, until their life starts to be affected by the criminal record.

After all of the jail time is done and all of the parole or probation is finished and all of the fines are paid a person must go back to their normal life and doing that can really be quite hard once a person has criminal record.  People do not think about how a criminal record will really affect the way that they live their life because it is not ever thought about until it happens and they can really see what takes place.

Even though employers are not supposed to base any judgment upon whether a person has been to jail or not they will.  When a job applicant puts in a job application and an employer sees that there is a history of criminal activity they may not want to hire that person.  And a criminal record will show up if the employer does any kind of background check.  If two people are equally qualified and they both are even in personality and other qualities that an employer looks for but one of the applicants has a criminal record who do you think that the employer will take, it will typically be the person without a criminal record.  The same holds true for so many things in today’s world.  A criminal record will affect you when it comes to jobs, when it comes to places that you may want to live and even loans and other things like higher education.  Criminal records do not go away even if you paid your debt to society, a criminal record will affect you and follow you for the rest of your life.

So how do people live after a crime has been committed and they now have a criminal record?  There are those people that just go through life doing the best that they can and existing with their criminal record and working with in the boundaries that it places upon them and then there are those people who have their criminal records sealed or they have their criminal records expunged.

Having a criminal record expunged will turn a person’s life around.  Now having a criminal record expunged is not typically something that a life long criminal will tend to do but for someone who has made a mistake or choose the wrong path when they were younger, having a criminal record expunged can really change the way that their life goes from that point on.  No longer to you have to say that you have committed a crime because it will be sealed and unless a court says it has to be opened a criminal record that has been expunged will stay sealed forever.  If a criminal record is affecting the way that you life and you really want more out of life you should contact an attorney in your area to see if you meet the requirements to have your criminal record expunged.
