What to look for in a professional wood floor company.

What to do when you want to hire a hardwood flooring company. I think you should be very careful who you allow in your home. Some people find one company and stick with them forever and I think that is a great thing.

Once you find someone who cleans up and does a great job with out doing any damage to anything else around your home then tell all your friends and family about them. I think they deserve this don’t you.

Most people base everything on price and that is a big mistake. Trust me I understand how hard it is to live and raise a family. Do you want to go with the cheapest guy don’t forget in this world most of the time you get what you pay for.

You simply must ask for referrals and proof of work they have done so you can see and check up on them for your self. Also I recommend never going with the first person you meet. Instead go with several estimates and based on the vibe you get and the referrals then the price you should go with them.

I would also ask and insist on the owner being on the job. Workers tend to not do as a good job when the boss is not around. A good way to get around this and a good thing to do anyway is offer to buy lunch and always check if they need anything.

You would be surprised on how many people won’t even offer people water from the sink. Then they wonder why the people who are breaking there backs to make those old nasty floors new and sexy did not put forth their best effort

So lets recap real quick some things we discussed earlier. So first thing lets not base anything on just price alone because you get what you pay for in this world. You have to think to yourself why they are so much cheaper. Sometimes you go for the cheaper quote and you end up having to pay more because the work was not top quality work. Your hardwood floors are going to be seen all of the time and it's important they are beautiful.

They must be cutting corners or using finish that will wear off very soon. Or they may have just started out or simply don’t understand how to price anything. All of this is not the best sign that they are the one to hire.

Next I would get as many referrals as I could and talk to some people that they have worked for in the past. Check with the better business bureau and see if they have any complaints. I would not hold that against them to much some people are impossible to work for and they will complain for silly things.

Obviously if it’s a bad complaint you never call them back. You should check out how they act how do they carry themselves. Do you have kids do even say hi to your children or if you have a pet do they say hi to your pet.

Do they have alcohol on there breath. This is unfortunately a very common thing in the construction industry and something that you must be aware of.

Most of all use good judgment and check out all references I hope you find someone that works out for you and you can have the work in your house for years to come. You might want to ask them if they have anyone they can recommend for any other work you do around your house.

Good people are always hanging out together and you can tap into that goodness
