A Florida vacation is just what some people need every now and again. With the seasons starting to cool down again, some people desire to take a vacation to warm and sunny Florida. A Florida vacation offers many things to do all day long. First you must decide what part of Florida you will be staying in on your vacation. Many people just want to go to a beach during the winter months so they can enjoy the warm sand and sunny skies. Well that is pretty much the whole state then. There are numerous beaches along the coast of Florida that would be great to visit during your vacation. On the western coast of Florida there are some of the most beautiful beaches. Clearwater offers some of the softest powdery sand on its beaches. It has been rated one of the top beaches in the United States. The popular Siesta Beach is actually made of 99% quartz. This beach has some of the whitest and finest sand that can be found any where in the world. Who does not like to walk and lie in sand that soft? On the panhandle side of Florida you can experience a more of an undeveloped side of the beaches. The Apalachicola Bay has some of the most beautiful rustic beaches. In St. George Island State Park you can experience plenty of sand dunes and wonderful day hikes throughout the park. The state park also offers camping and day picnic areas for folks to enjoy the day at the beach. This is not a tourist mecca and you will not find a cabana boy walking around for drink orders but you will find a pleasant beauty in the nature of the area along with some fantastic beaches. This is also a great place to take a drive through town. From one end of the island to the other it will take about 30 minutes. On your drive you will be able to see the old downtown buildings that were established since the 1800’s. There are also plenty of stunning older homes and smaller cottages to see there. In the southwest of Florida you will find beaches like Fort Myers and Lovers Key State Park. Fort Myers offers plenty of family fun for you Florida vacation. This area has some of the best historical attractions along with some of the greatest beaches a family can visit. There is the Imaginarium Hands-On Museum for kids to get close to more than 60 exhibits. The whole family will love this one. There is also the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium. It is a 105 acre site with plenty of nature trails, a planetarium, a butterfly conservatory and plenty of exotic birds. This is somewhere you and your family can go in between visits to the beach. For some visiting the area is just as much fun as spending all day at the beach. Although there are plenty of places to go throughout the state of Florida during your vacation most people go there to escape the cooler weather to the north. Florida offers warmth and sun when most of the country is finding there way through snow drifts. The beaches really are what initially draw people to vacation in Florida. The state has plenty of beaches that are consistently on the top ten beach list. During the year of 2005, Florida actually had three of there beautiful beaches on the top ten list of greatest beaches at one time. There was Fort De Soto Park, Caladesi Island State Park, and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. They came in first, third and eighth in the list of top ten beaches. With so many great places to see while you are on your Florida vacation it may be hard not to make your stay there a little bit longer than you had originally planned. { Last Page } { Page 22 of 41 } { Next Page } |
