Blackjack and some variations - 05:38, Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Black jack is a great game and there have been many articles and book written about the game.  There are some very basic ideas and principles that must be followed when playing black jack and when those ideas and principles are followed the player has a strong chance of winning the hand.  The basics of blackjack can be found every where and they are even taught in the casinos at times.  But what happens when you want to learn more about the game?  What happens when you realize that there are more to the blackjack games you see?

You can find blackjack games all over a casino floor.  It is the most popular game and also gives the best odds to the player and not the casino.  Therefore everyone loves to play it and that is why there are so many more blackjack tables in casinos than any other type of game.  After a player has played blackjack for a little while they will start to notice that there are many different variations of the game.  With in each and every casino they go to the game of blackjack may indeed differ.  There are defiantly different places and different variations of the game to be played and some of the games are not as forgiving as other variations of blackjack.  That means that some of the variations of the game of blackjack may indeed benefit the casino and not the player.

Let us take a look at the different variations of the game of blackjack and how they are played.  One of the first variations of blackjack that we will look at is double exposure.  Double exposure in blackjack is when the dealer has both of their cards turned up so everyone can see them.  In this game a novice would think that this is an easy win but there are other rules that accompany this double exposure.  When playing double exposure blackjack a dealer's cards may be turned up for all to see but there are other rules.  There is usually not a blackjack bonus and there is no insurance in double exposure.  Also there is typically a rule that says the dealer will win all ties. To some this may seem enticing at first but the house has better odds in this game than the player, especially if you are unaware of all of the rules.  This game is also called "zweikartenspiel".

European blackjack is played with two different decks.  There are some basic rules to this game such as the dealer must stand on a soft 17(a hand that contains an ace) and the player can only double down on a 9 card or and 11.  for those people that only play blackjack so they can double down this option can be a little hard for them and they may not want to play this version of black jack at all.  There is not any surrender option in this European blackjack and a player can only split once and they can not double down on a split either. These options may be hard for some players to handle and this version of blackjack may be avoided by them at all costs.  There are many blackjack players that love to double down and split their hands. These are usually very aggressive players and this version is typically not for them.

The more you get into the game of blackjack the more you will see that it is not who can get to the total of 21.  That is the ultimate goal but there are so many different parts to the game.  Once you have a solid grasps on the basics you should research a little more into blackjack and familiarize your self with other rules to the game.
