| When you live in places like Las Vegas you are used to many different types of gambling. Gambling is basically what the city runs off of. Of course there is not gambling in every part of the city but you can certainly find it every where from the casinos to the grocery stores and even the corner stores where you buy gas. It is part of your everyday life. This does not mean that everyone who lives in places like Las Vegas are gamblers, in fact it is rather difficult to live a normal life and go out gambling every day but many people do enjoy gambling occasionally. The great thing about living in Vegas is all of the tournaments that are constantly going on.
Just a few weeks ago a local radio station was promoting an event where they were giving away front row concert tickets and some cash and a few other prizes to the winner of a craps tournament. This was a great idea. The radio station took a few weeks to find the gambling contestants by having them win smaller prizes and games to be entered into the craps tournament at a later time. After a few weeks of doing this the radio station took all of the winners from the earlier games that they had been playing and entered them all in a craps tournament that they had set up at a popular local casino. Here they all entered into the craps tournament to win the grand prize of front row seats at the concert, money and some other things that the radio station was giving to them. Now there were many of the contestants that knew how to play craps and then there were some of them that had a little bit of knowledge about how to play craps. There were about ten different players in the first round and all of them were going to get to be the shooters at one time. For those people that had no idea how to play craps they were given some very basic rules. Some of the other players who had more knowledge felt that they had an advantage because they knew what they were doing or so they thought. It took several hours for all ten of the contestants to shoot the dice and to play. Now this was a tournament situation so there were of course rounds of elimination. The first round gave everyone a fair chance as the radio station and the casino gave all of the players an equal amount of chips to start off with and everyone was given the chance to shoot. So after the several hours it took for everyone to get a chance to shoot the elimination began. They eliminated all of the people that had the least amount of chips. They took only the four top players from the first round. The tournament was getting very heated at this point because there happened to be a gentleman that had only the basic of knowledge of craps when he began the tournament. After a few more rounds the man that had the basic knowledge actually ended up winning the crap tournament and the grand prize. He started betting slowly but then by watching the other players he realized that if he bet his chips on the hard way he would win bigger. And that is exactly what he did. He doubled his amount of chips rather quickly and soon he was in the lead. This man that knew almost nothing about craps actually won a craps tournament and got to rock out with the guys from the radio station at the concert. Not too bad for a guy who knew nothing about craps. |
