Baby gift cakes are some of the cutest things in the world to give as a gift to an expectant mother.  There are some very creative people that can make baby gift cakes.  These gift cakes are usually made from diapers and are decorated with all kinds of baby items.  They are known as baby gift cakes or diaper cakes or just plain old baby cakes.  Whatever the name you call them there is one thing for sure, these cakes are adorable.

There are many different styles of diaper cakes that can be made or even purchased.  There are many web sites online that have a huge selection of baby gift cakes available for purchase.  They are priced from any where around $50.00 up to well into the hundreds.  They are basically made of baby diapers rolled up into the shape of a layered cake.  From here many small baby items are added for decoration.  There can be anything from small rattles and pacifiers to teddy bears and stuffed animals.

Most of the baby gift cakes are made in themes. By taking the cardboard and using it as a form to use as the cake layers you can just fill them with different sizes of diapers.  After rolling all the diapers and filling the cardboard forms you can cover them with the fabric.  The fabric does not have to really have a pattern on it.  It may just be a single colored fabric.  It is entirely up to you and the design you are going for on the diaper cakes.  After covering it with fabric make layers of the diapers and cardboard forms.  You can either hot glue them together or staple the forms to other cardboard and then build the layers up as you go.  After that and covering them with the fabric you can embellish the cake with all of the baby items you have gotten.

Use things that the baby will need later on.  You can use small receiving blankets, rattles, baby bottles, small stuffed animals.  Some themed cakes can be made with all items for a bath.  You can help the parents out by using bath items on the cake like shampoo, soap, baby wash clothes and sponges.  Let your imagination run wild.  You can make a diaper cake with almost anything you can use for a baby.
