When someone that you know is going to have a baby you will usually throw them a baby shower.  Here the mom to be can get all kinds of baby gifts.  Baby gifts are one of the most important things to a new parent, besides the health of their new baby.  A lot of parents that are first time parents will need to have many things for the baby.  It is not like a second child where there are already a lot of baby things for the baby.  A first baby needs to have a baby shower so there can be plenty of baby gifts for the new parents.

Baby gifts are important at a baby shower and even before the shower or after because a new parent will have many things to purchase for the new baby.  Sometimes it can be very overwhelming for the parents especially on a financial level. Not everyone is entirely ready for a new baby and by having a baby shower and giving them lots of baby gifts it will help with some of the stress of having to purchase so many different things for the new baby.

Some very important baby gifts would be a crib for the new baby or a high chair, a swing, and even a stroller.  Many times people will decide to chip in for baby gifts and that way they can get a larger gift that the parents will really need and it will not be so expensive.  That is a totally acceptable way to give a baby gift.  Besides the larger items there are a ton of other kinds of baby gifts you can give to a new parent at a baby shower.

You can do a themed baby gift.  Something I like to do personally is to give these kinds of baby gifts.  I like to do something like a bath tub and then all the soaps and shampoos you will need for the new baby.  You can give baby towels and sponges with a few bath toys, and throwing in a rubber ducky just for the whole idea of a bath tub.  This is something that is very functional and a great baby gift.  Mom and dad can certainly use all of these items when the new baby arrives.

Another idea for a baby gift would be to give a baby shower cake or a diaper cake.  This is when you make a several tiered cake out of baby diapers.  You can use different size diapers for each level.  Adding little baby bottles and pacifiers and ever baby wipes makes this baby cake a perfect baby gift.  There are so many different things that new parents will need for their baby that every little baby gift helps out a lot.

A lot of times the parents are registered at a store or two so you now what to get for them as a baby gift.  Before the shower they will tell you at what store they are registered and then you can shop there.  Most places will allow you to print a copy of what the parents want and you can see what has already been purchased and what is still available to get for them.  This way no one gets the same baby gift for them as someone else.  This idea is very helpful and it makes sure that the new parents are going to get everything they need and everything they would like to have for the baby.

Baby gifts are very important because as friends and family you will want to help out the new parents as much as possible.  By having a baby shower and inviting people over you can make sure that the parents will at least get off to a great start with all the baby gifts that they will receive.  You may not be able to get them everything they need but a baby shower with plenty of baby gifts will allow them to get ahead and to start off with plenty of baby items.
