The Inn at the Roman Forum - Review

The hotel is located in ‘ancient Rome’, just a few steps from the Roman Forum and a couple of minutes walk from the Coliseum.  The hotel itself is intimate and beautiful and full of fantastic surprises – it only has 12 bedrooms and these are individually decorated in sumptuous, contemporary fabrics.  An original 15^th century fireplace was a feature of our bedroom – along with the Jacuzzi bath in the bathroom! 

Although the Inn at the Roman Forum doesn’t have it’s own restaurant, it does serve a wonderful breakfast – scrambled eggs, bacon, fresh pastries, yoghurts and cerials – and there are plenty of lovely restaurants within walking distance for dinner.  The breakfast room and lounge is located on the top floor of the hotel and is beautifully decorated in sophisticated black and brown fabrics and soft furnishings and – whilst we were staying at the hotel – this room had a fabulous roaring log fire!

However, the piéce de résistance has to be the Roman cryptoporticus of the Trajan Marketplace located within the hotel – when they were renovating the building, the builders discovered archways, mosaics and stone archways carved in to the 2000 year old stone walls and these are now open for guests to enjoy!

We had a really lovely time at this hotel and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it to any of our clients!
