Malmaison Edinburgh - The Mother Of All Mals!

The Edinburgh Mal is located on the banks of the Forth in Leith. A beautifully tranquil retreat just minutes from the hubbub of the city centre, the Malmaison Edinburgh was the first Malmaison Hotel to grace the UK – The mother of all Mals! And, 10 years on she’s still looking good. Whether you are theatre-lover, confirmed Shop-a-holic, 24hr socialite or looking for a pleasurable business venue the Edinburgh Mal has it all.

In its day this magnificent gothic-style riverside property has been a Seaman’s mission and a house of ill-repute for ladies of the night! Thankfully nowadays the Malmaison Edinburgh attracts a much more respectable crowd. Wander through its doors and you are greeted by a grand staircase, sofas in the lobby and the doorways to brasserie and bar nirvana. This hotel, with it’s grand central clock tower and plenty of period features, created the ethos for how Malmaison continue to bring hotels to the UK.

Each of the 100 bedrooms is uniquely designed – some with bold colours and stripes, some with subtle tones and others with glorious harbour views.  For complete luxury, book room 121. A fabulous four-poster bed stands in the middle of this large, high ceiling room which has been draped in regal coloured fabrics with fantastic views over the cobbled courtyard to the River Leith. All our rooms have the complete set of ‘Mal extras’ - moody lighting, great beds, CD players, CD collections, power showers, satellite TV and mini-bar.  Other luxuries include fast and free internet access, same-day laundry, toiletries that you’re encouraged to take with you and room service for breakfast, dinner or those midnight munchies

The divine brasserie, is the heart and soul of the Malmaison Edinburgh – lively & atmospheric with a well stocked cellar.  It has recently been restored to its original glory - dressed with leather and candlelight with an abundance of wrought ironwork creating the romantic and seductive atmosphere.  If you are eating and drinking in Edinburgh it has to be at the Malmaison. Imagine divinely tasty, fantastically presented cuisine prepared with tasty local ingredients, and served with a genuine excitement - you  definitely have to sample Scotland’s finest from the Homegrown & Local menu.

The favourite haunt of Edinburgh’s movers and shakers, the Mal Bar serves up a wonderful mix of wine, cocktails, Champagne, coffees and tasty anytime snacks. On gloriously sunny days, you can also make use of the beautiful terrace.
