Barcelo Hotels to break into UK Market

Spanish hotel chain Barcelo Hotels & Resorts are to establish themselves in the UK through the management of the four-star hotel group Paramount Hotels.  

Barcelo plan to introduce its brand into the UK from January onwards with the conversion of Paramount properties into Barcelo hotels.

The Barcelo Group took on the operation of the 20 hotels in September with a 45-year lease deal with Paramounts owner Dawnay Shore Hotels.

The hospitality giant plans to manage a total of 40 hotels in the UK within the short time frame of three years. The group already manages 160 hotels over 14 countries on three different continents.

Additional acquisitions are to be targeted, therefore strengthening the group's position as a key player in the UK hospitality sector.

Current Barcelo Hotels include the Barcelo Atenea Mar in Barcelona and the Barcelo Praha in Prague.

Paramount hotels in the UK include the Paramount Carlton Hotel in Edinburgh and the Paramount Cheltenham Park Hotel in Cheltenham Spa.
