Enjoying the new vending machines

Have you seen the new vending machine concept on the market? I just found it a few days ago when I was shopping with a friend. Since I had finished looking around before her I stepped outside to rest my feet and to enjoy a cold drink. This is when I approached a vending machine that works like no other I have accessed before.
The one I used only offered bottled drinks and it allowed them to be dispensed completely in an upright position. The design of the vending machine is very smart as it pushes the selection forward and then moves it to the side. It is then pushed forward again to reach you.
It was transferred into a holder that delivered it to me without it tumbling around. The bottle remained upright from the time I pushed the button for it until I had it in my hand. I was very impressed with this new vending machine concept as I knew I could safely open that drink immediately.
While I was sitting there waiting for my friend many people came up to this particular vending machine to make a purchase. This is a location with many different vending machines but I noticed this particular one was getting all the attention.
My friend laughed because when she came out of the store I didn't rush to show her the items I had purchased. Instead I wanted her to get a soda from that vending machine. She liked the idea behind it too. I guess the idea is starting to be advertised because at the movies there was a short skit with cartoon characters inside of a vending machine while a person waited outside for their drink.
For vending machine business owners, this could be a way to get consumers to buy more drinks. You do have to wonder though how soon the effect of it would wear off. It also tells us about the direction that vending machines will be taking. There is also the issue that these types of machines are more expensive.
It would seem to me that with such an advanced piece of equipment there is more than can go wrong too. Repairing such a smart piece of equipment may prove to be difficult as well as expensive. I am sure these new vending machines are under warranty but what does it cover and for how long?
From what I saw with traffic to this particular vending machine in that short period of time though, people are very interested in it. The novelty may soon wear off those and that can lead to trouble for those that have invested in them. Yet they may be the vending machine of the future and what we will continue to see offered out there.
