Sound Investment Advice

The soundest investing advice ever given to me came from my father one day when I was about 15... I had just been paid and taken my pay check home. My Dad said, don't “Boy, whatever you do in your life, never spend more than you earn.” I was excited to have just earned my first pay check and it was $16.49

Wow! I thought I was a millionaire... I had a pocket full of money and what my Dad had said never registered with me.  I had just earned my first salary and I was going on a spending spree!  Thirty five years later when my kids were grown and had left home, my wife had split to live with my best friend and life had run its course with me, I realized that it was the best investing advice I ever had.

Those simple words held the essence of what man has been trying so hard to figure out. Investing advice is not as difficult as it is made out to be.  Nor is it rocket science... it is understandable by some of the finest and most erudite brains of our era.  Effective investing advice is really as simple as "don’t ever spend more than you can earn!"

Maybe you don't think it is great investing advice, but think again.  Tell me, how many of us make the mistake of spending more than we earn?  Before you get all self righteous and answer me, let me ask you this "Do you have a credit card?"  I thought so... yes, your credit cards are maxed out arn't they?

We all have heard the theory... save now for later etc... but we don't follow those principals in real life.  We spend now to pay later!   Sound investing advice is not meant to be something that you can merely pass on like a family heirloom.  In order for it to be effective, your heirs would much rather appreciate the money that accrued from the investing advice!
