If you could imagine a place where every corner offers some kind of shop to browse through you have imagined several parts of Kansas City.
These certain areas of Kansas City that are referred to as districts are spread throughout the city. One of the most popular places or districts to shop in Kansas City has got to be the Country Club Plaza or the "Plaza" as it is known to locals. This is a fourteen block area that is filled with shops. Within these shops are homes or local residents. There are houses, apartments and condos all through out the district. One of the other things you will find in the Plaza would be fountains. Kansas City is known as the "city of fountains". This city can boast the greatest number of fountains anywhere in the world with the exception of Venice. Most of the cities fountains are found in the Plaza. The Plaza celebrated its seventy-fifth anniversary in 1997. It is one of the oldest shopping centers in the United States. The Plaza is visited by over ten million tourists and locals a year. This district is a favorite among Kansas City locals and many love to stroll along the outside shops and take in all the beauty of the area. Such stores as Armani, Tiffany, BCGB, and St. Johns are located in this district. There are more than 180 stores and shops to choose from here. A store for anyone on any budget can be found in the Plaza. During the Thanksgiving holiday season there is a famed holiday light display that is offered until mid January.
Another favorite area of Kansas City to shop in would have to be the Town Center Plaza. Here they offer or 90 stores of upscale shopping. This area is completely outdoors. The Town Center Plaza offers over 750,000 square feet to shop in. This district offers a market place atmosphere. The Pottery Barn, Bombay CO. and Harry & David are all set here in this stylish and trendy district.
Brookside is yet one more of the great districts or areas that Kansas City offers to shop in. This is a very quaint area where shops and homes are mixed together in a beautiful blend of designs. With over 70 shops and restaurants finding what you need is usually quiet easy. There is a definite English feel to this neighborhood and by walking through the streets you can feel it in the air. There are many locally owned shops located here along with stores like World’s Window and Latin American Imports. There are also a plethora of restaurants here to fill your stomach of almost any food you wish to indulge in.
Along with all the neighborhood type shopping districts Kansas City also offers the most basic of shopping malls. Well not really basic in any sense but they are your regular type malls with stores like Eddie Bauer and Burlington Coat Factory. These stores are located in the Great Mall of the Great Plains. Here there are over 100 stores to browse away in. There is also a theater and a Children’s Place located in this mall.
Kansas City offers many stores and shops to choose from throughout the city. From typical American malls to the quaint neighborhood areas there are all types of shopping here.
