Kansas City

• 2007-Oct-20 - Eating In Kansas City Is Great

Kansas City is chock full of great places to eat.  The restaurants in Kansas City are some of the best in the world.  You only have to decide what kind of food you are in the mood for and go and find it.  Kansas City has them all.

There are many great Kansas City restaurants, and a great and fun place to eat for the kids would have to be a place called the Crayola Café.  They offer what is known as American food and is priced from $10 to $20 per dish.  The Crayola Café allows children to eat and play all at the same time.  And any parent or anyone who has ever been around children knows that this is something that children love to do.  This restaurant is decorated in bright colors and allows children to color on blank placemats.  This is definitely a kid friendly environment although it is not only for the children.  Many adults love to come here and bond with their inner child or remember their own childhood.  In this great restaurant they offer many foods that children and adults alike will enjoy.  Mac and cheese, chicken tenders and fries and even good old peanut butter and jelly are offered for the kids.  There are salads, burgers and other sandwich choices for adult entrees.

The Cheesecake Factory is another very popular restaurant in Kansas City.  Here you and your family or friends can enjoy a wonderful array of foods.  But I have to say the entrees are only something to nibble on before you get to the desserts.  The desserts here are to die for and no one can turn them down, even if you must take a dessert to go.

I have to say though if you are in Kansas City and you are looking for places to go and eat you must look for a BBQ restaurant.  There is nothing in the world like BBQ from Kansas City.  The place is famous for their bbq.  With so many restaurants all over the city specializing in bbq you must either try all of them or ask the advice of some older natives.  There are places that are moderately priced and there are those that can get quite expensive.  Just because the food is a bit pricier does not necessarily mean that it is better, especially when it comes to bbq.

A wonderful place to try would have to be Gates Bar-B-Q.  This family owned restaurant has been in business since 1946 and is still going strong.  Here you will find some of the best bbq around.  They also have a web site that will ship their food to you.  They will sell their rubs and bbq sauces on line also.  While in Kansas City you really must try this restaurant.  Dishes here are again moderately priced at $10 to $20 per entrée.  You can not go wrong with bbq from Kansas City.

Finding good food in Kansas City really only depends on what you feel like eating at the moment.  There are tons of restaurants in Kansas City and all you really have to do is walk around some to find them.  Each district of the city has its own favorite place to go and get good food.  If you are planning on visiting the city make sure you leave your self plenty of time to try all it has to offer.  You would not want to leave the city and not have tried all of its fine food.  Now I know that eating at every restaurant is impossible but you should at least try some of the local favorites.  Anyone in the city will more than happily tell you some of their favorite places to eat.  Just ask anyone you run into.  They are probably used to it and will be happy to tell you where the favorite local place is.
