So many mothers decide to breastfeed their babies and that is such a natural and wonderful thing to do.  However a lot of the moms that breastfeed their babies especially new mothers really have no idea how to get the perfect nursing bra.  Nursing bras and the way they fit the body really play an important part of breastfeeding and knowing how to get the right nursing bra for you can be a little tricky if you are new to it.

Breastfeeding really is a beautiful thing but sometimes at first if you are breastfeeding in public you can become very uncomfortable.  Having a good nursing bra that is easily unhinged with only one hand is essential when you are out with your baby.  It is very difficult to nurse in public for some people but when you throw in a screaming baby and an issue with trying to get your breast free for nursing you can have a horrible combination for a very bad experience.

A nursing bra should be comfortable to wear and also it should be easy to adjust.  The breast will change size and shape through out the day due to the milk levels in the breast so the nursing bra should be able to be adjusted easily to accommodate the breast size.  Also the nursing bra should have an easy accessible way to slide breast pads or nursing pads into the bra itself.  These nursing pads are essential in preventing milk leakage into your nursing bra and it also acts as a barrier between your nipples and the material of the bra.  Your nipples are ultra sensitive and can easily become irritated from friction so the nursing pads help a lot.

Nursing bras are equipped with flaps that allow the breast to become free from restriction and for the baby to eat.  The flaps can be several things.  They can be hooked or Velcro.  There are even some button flaps.  You must choose the right one for you to wear.  Remembering that you really will need to be able to hook and unhook the nursing bra flap with only one hand.  If you think of the most embarrassing and crazy moment of how it could get while breastfeeding out in public (and it will) and you will have to be able to open your nursing bra flap to get the baby to stop screaming while you are holding the baby and you can not get the flap open do not buy it. If you find a nursing bra that you can work easily and fits well then you should get it right away.

Many women would like to get pretty bras to make them feel womanly and that is fine.  Today there are many styles of nursing bras that are very nice.  Just remember that the kind of material the nursing bra that you get may irritate you and that would be bad.  So buying a nursing bra just because it is pretty and lacey is not going to work.  Save that kind of bra for when you are not breastfeeding anymore and you will be just fine.  If you want to get it of course by all means do but you may have several issues with the nursing bra.  The important thing about nursing bras is to make sure that they work for you and your baby’s lifestyles.  If the nursing bra is pretty but is not functional then do not buy it.  You must sacrifice your desire to wear a beautiful bra for a little while and wear a pretty nursing bra that works well.
