Every single woman on the face of the earth that owns a pearl necklace deserves a pearl ring to match. And there is no reason that she should not have it, but it is often difficult to choose the right kind of pearl for your ring. There are many different types of pearls such as black Tahitian Pearls, cultured pearls, freshwater pearls, natural pearls, and South Sea pearls. So what is the best type of pearl to use for your ring. Now you will need to choose the perfect pearl and there are several characteristics to selecting the right pearl and these are luster, nacre thickness, shape, surface texture, size and color. Luster is the reflection in the pearl. High luster will mean that the light can pass through the pearl. So a pearl that is almost completely transparent will be the best, these are hard to find and will be expensive if you do find them. One of the highest quality pearls is the Akoya pearl. The Akoya pearl is also the most affordable pearl available. The color and overtones are nacre thickness. A good quality pearl will have the same color all around, so basically a good pearl will be evenly matched in color. When choosing the best pearl for your ring you are going to need to check the shape and texture of the pearl. A good pearl will be perfectly round with minimal imperfections on the surface. The size of the pearl for your ring will need to match the size pearls that are used in your necklace. The common pearl size is 7 to 7.5mm. You don’t really have to match the pearl sizes, this can be difficult. My hands are small, and if I selected the same size pearl that my necklace has then I might not be able to use my hand as easily and freely as I normally do. Since your intentions is to match your ring with your necklace you will need to first find out exactly what type of pearls are used to craft your beautiful pearl necklace. Once you have determined this you will have now have many other decisions to make for your ring, such as what type of setting you will have, gold, silver, white gold or maybe platinum. This is totally up to you. It was an easy choice for me only because I do night like gold, platinum is way out of my price range and silver was my selection. Sometimes it can be an easy decision but sometimes it’s not, like with the design of the ring. I struggled and agonized for days over this exact thing. A great way to get some idea’s for the design of your pearl ring is to search on the internet. I used google and had a ton of search results. You will be amazed at how many different websites there are and most of them offer some good suggestions. You want to make your ring one of a kind, so don’t use exactly what they have, rather take different idea’s and create the perfect ring design to match your pearl necklace. It’s fun to create your own design for your ring. Black Tahitian pearls make beautiful rings, and you can always create your ring and then match your necklace to it. The choice is yours, but you deserve to have a pearl ring as well as a pearl necklace. Have fun with your creation and remember selecting the right pearl is very important.

A white pearl necklace is one of the most beautiful and classic pieces of jewelry. I believe that the ability to be able to wear pearls for a formal occasion or to a simple get together gives it much more value. And it is the most preferred type of jewelry for even young girls. Just the other day my daughter who is 10 years old was searching for a necklace to wear to her father-daughter dance at school, and she found my pearl necklace that I had received for my third wedding anniversary. She came running up to me begging me to wear it to the dance. I was shocked at how avid she was about wearing it, so I of course let her try it on. Needless to say she wore it to the dance and she proudly flaunted it to all of her friends. For Christmas that year we surprised her with a pearl necklace and pearl earrings of her own. When I was looking online for the perfect pearl jewelry for her I found it very difficult to find something, and not because she is little, but because there was just so many different designs of white pearl jewelry. So I began educating myself a little to understand all use the different types of pearls types that they use to make pearl jewelry. The most popular white pearl that is used is the freshwater pearl, because of its beauty. They also use seawater pearls, Akoya pearls, Japanese pearls, and south pearls. All pearls are cultured and they are not all white, they can come in a wide range of colors, such as pink, peach, black, gray, lavender and even golden. But I guess because white is the most widely used that we don’t see the other variations as often. Some of these other attractive colors are beautiful. I am still absolutely amazed at how these jewelry designers can use them pearls to design some of the most exquisite pieces of jewelry. Selecting the right pearl necklace can sometimes be very tricky but there are some things that you can see that will determine the quality of the pearl. Luster is the main factor to determine the quality of the pearl. What this means is that the more transparent the pearl is then the more valuable it will be. If you can basically see through the pearl then it will be of higher value. Another important thing to look for is the shape of the pearls, a high quality pearl is going to be perfectly round and its texture is going to be smooth. Shopping for a pearl necklace can be a nice day out for you and your daughter or girlfriends. And you know that when you are looking to purchase a pearl necklace that it’s going to require a pair of pearl earrings to match. Selecting the right pearls for the right price will give you much more joy. Remember to make it a trip for the girls to spend a fun filled day looking at the perfect pearl jewelry and a mission to find the best possible pearls that you can afford. You are going to find many pieces of jewelry that have pearls in them, and some of them will probably be calling your name. Don’t forget that pearls are a great gift to buy for your mother, mother in law, or for your best friends wedding. You can find beautiful white pearl earrings, or a white bracelet that will match her white pearl necklace. There are just so many different items for you too choose from.

So listen up men, or women because you are about to learn something very valuable if you are going to be purchasing a pearl necklaces over the next few months. You are not going to want to miss this information. Alright, so how do you select the perfect pearl necklace for your partner. There are six different factors that play part in choosing a pearl: Luster, nacre thickness, shape, surface texture, size and color. Luster is the transparency of the pearl. If the light will reflect through the pearl it has a high luster. A lower quality pearl will have a dull shine. Basically the pearl that has the deepest luster will be almost transparent. The highest quality pearl is generally the Akoya pearl, and they are the most popular type because they are also the most affordable. Now nacre thickness, this is the material that actually makes up the pearl. Akoya pearls have a layer of nacre over a mother-of-pearl bead while Freshwater pearls are solid nacre. With Akoya pearls, the thickness of the nacre is directly related to the quality of the pearl and thus the price. Pearls with thicker nacre have a higher luster and are worth more. The shape and texture of pearls are also very important to selecting the right pearls. The highest quality pearls will be perfectly round and have a smooth surface. If it is a lower quality pearl it maybe round but it will have many imperfections on its surface such as pits or wrinkles. Colors and overtones also play a part in the value of a pearl. There are light colored pearls which come in different shades of white. There are cream and golden, white with pink or silver overtones. White with pink or silver overtones are much more valuable in Akoya pearls than the others, while gold coloring is more valuable in South Sea pearls. You also want to choose pearls that are evenly matched in color. Now for the fun part, the size of the pearl and the length of the necklace. The way pearl necklaces are designed is that the largest pearls will be in the center and they will gradually get smaller going towards the clasp. A 7mm to 7.5mm Akoya pearl necklace will have the larger pearls toward the front. The larger the pearls the more valuable they will be. Pearls can come in sizes from 6mm all the way up to 12mm and above. The most common pearl necklace length is 17 to 19 inches, and the most common pearl size is 7 to 7.5mm. You should first decide on the quality of the pearl, and there are four grades - A, AA, AA+, and AAA quality. Of course AAA is the highest quality. These will have the best of everything in the factors listed above - high luster, excellent roundness, thick nacre and a clean surface. Where as an A grade will have a low luster and many imperfections. Most jewelry stores only carry AA+ and AAA grades. You understand that you will pay more for higher grades, that goes really without saying. There are some other things that you will need to take into consideration when you are looking to purchase the right pearl necklace with the best quality and that is the type of pearl you want. There are four types of cultured pearls to choose from, Akoya pearls, black Tahitian pearls, South Sea pearls, or Freshwater pearls. Akoya pearls, Tahitian pearls and South Sea pearls all grow in saltwater, and they are all commonly referred to as saltwater pearls. Freshwater pearls are cultured in Freshwater and are generally solid nacre. I hope this information is going to help you to select the best possible pearl that you can afford to purchase. There are many sites online that will also guide you with more information as to where you can purchase these pearls of the highest quality. French Wire and Pearls

French wire, bullion, gimp - It’s called different things but it all refers to a tightly wound silver or gold coil used at the end of pearl necklaces and pearl bracelets. It looks like a very tiny "Slinky".Pearl necklaces and pearl bracelets use a French wire to attach the clasp (or finding) to the strand of pearls. This tightly wound wire is used to protect the silk thread from friction and breaking where it is tied at the clasp. It also adds a professional, finished look to your pearls. Sometimes you will find a pearl necklace that has the silk thread only tied at the clasp. This can easily wear over time and cause the pearl necklace to break. Silk thread is strong, but when it is constantly rubbing against metal, it can fray easily and will wear out. Using the French Wire to finish off a strand of pearls will help protect your necklace and also keep it from breaking during a big event such as a party or a wedding. If you are having your pearl necklace re strung, insist that the pearl stringer use a French Wire to attach the pearls to the clasp. If you string your own pearls, it is easy to add this to your own pearls. Below are simple instructions for using a French Wire: Adding French wire to your pearl stringing project is easy: 1. Cut a piece of French Wire approximately 1/2 inch long 2. Thread your silk thread through the piece of French wire 3. Add your finding or clasp to the French Wire-covered silk thread 4. Pass the French wire covered thread back through the last pearl in your strand 5. Make sure that you pull the thread tight to compress the coils of the French wire and then knot it tightly |
