Years ago when audio books were created to help the blind read a book no one would have guest the great success that audio books would have today.  Audio books were first created to help blind people who could not read brail read a book and now the audio book has become something that people use every single day and are no longer only for the blind.

The popularity of audio books has become something that was created out of need.  People these days are just plain busy and the audio book will allow these very busy people to multi task.  They are able to do things around the house or run errands and still listen to an audio book.  With so many people in today’s world just plain busy multi tasking has become the normal way of life and audio books just seem to fit in perfectly.

There are always some questions from people if they have never used an audio book before.  They want to know certain things about audio books before they venture into the new world of listening to a story.  First of all you can not find every single book in an audio book format.  There is a plethora of audio books but not every book ever written is in audio format.  But there is a treasure of old novels and very famous and popular books that are already in the audio book format. The benefit of using an audio book in an mp3 format means that it will allow you to take the audio book wherever you go with your mp3 player.  Since almost everyone has an mp3 player of some kind or an iPod these days it is no wonder why this type of audio book is the most popular, it is simply the most versatile way to get an audio book.

People who enjoy reading sometimes feel like they would betray the written book if they should happen to get an audio book.  This is simply not the case.  People who enjoy reading will always find the time to read a good book.  An audio book will however allow them to read a book when they just do not have the time.  These people who enjoy reading a book may indeed find that an audio book will be useful for certain things.  Books like self help books or books that try to teach you a different language can be used by the die hard reader and they should not feel any guilt about it at all.  In fact they are still supporting their favorite author and they should feel good about that.
