There are many of us who have been using calculators that have solar cells, these are the calculators that never need batteries and as long as there is a light on in the room they are always working.  As long as there is a enough light, it is always going to work or so it seems it will last forever. Then there are the larger solar panels which are on emergency road signs or call boxes, on buoys, even in parking lots to power lights that are utilizing solar panels.  There has been a lot of speeding signs powered by solar panels to let you know how fast you are driving, especially in neighborhoods populated with children and around schools; they are designed to slow down speed drivers. Although the larger solar panels might now be as common place as the solar powered calculators, they're out there, not that hard to spot if you know where to look and the number of electronic gadgets and safety devices using them is growing by leaps and bounds. There are solar panel arrays on our NASA space satellites, where they are used to power the electrical systems that will one day make up space stations.

So while we have been hearing about the "solar revolution" for the last 20 years, the idea that one day we will all use free electricity from the sun to power all our electrical devices, this may now be a real true story for those of you wanting to use solar power to run the electricity in your home by making it a solar panel decorated solar home.
