Solar Panels, 800.292.7648
• 2007-Dec-10 - Sault Saint Marie Canadian Solar Panels
If you’re going to build a 60 Megawatt solar farm you obviously need to have solar panels.
And Sault Ste. Marie is where they are going to be manufactured according to Earl Fuller the Vice President of PhotoVoltaics at EMCORE Corporation in New Mexico.
Because of POD Generating Group’s need of 60 Megawatts of solar panels EMCORE is at the point where it makes economic sense to build a solar panel manufacturing plant in Sault Ste. Marie as opposed to shipping these “very heavy” solar panels from the EMCORE manufacturing plant in New Mexico.
Mr. Fuller also said that solar panel manufacturing is a “labour intensive” manufacturing process that requires a lot of workers.
When asked about how soon a manufacturing plant will be up and running in the Sault Mr. Fuller said that EMCORE “will be in a position to need to do manufacturing locally just to support” solar panel installation for this 60 Megawatt announcement “within the next eighteen to twenty-four months”. |
