CertainTeed Corp. said Wednesday it has formed a partnership with SRS Energy to develop roofing products that generate electricity from solar energy.

CertainTeed, a Valley Forge, Pa., building products manufacturer said it will work with SRS to develop a photovoltaic roof tile that looks like a regular roof tile.

SRS, which is based in Philadelphia, has been developing solar roofing systems designed to look like, and be as easy to install as, ceramic tile roofs since 2005. The company is a spin-off of Bresslergroup, a Philadelphia industrial design firm.
