Tracing Your Irish Ancestry2009-Oct-31
Unless your ancestors never left Ireland, one of the very first steps you need to do in researching your Irish history is to trace back to your migrant ancestor. There are many reasons for the wide spread of the Irish throughout the world: the Great Famine of the 1840s account for over two million people who left Ireland alone. You may very likely find that your ancestor was amongst these migrants.

Whether or not you have found your ancestor’s place of origin, it is maybe not the best idea to jump on a plane to Ireland just right away! In today’s technological world it is possible to carry out much of your Irish ancestry research online and using the Mormon’s microfilmed records. These will include most civil registration indexes, many of the religious registers, and much of the holdings of the Genealogical Office (GO) and Deeds registry.

Sometimes it is wise or even necessary to hire a professional searcher to search in the Dublin and London repositories, as some of the records necessary and essential to Irish research will be found on the mainland. If you can do all you can from home, you will then be able to make the best use of your time when you eventually visit Ireland. It will then be possible for you to examine the records which you cannot do remotely, or if you want to study them personally.

When you visit Ireland you will be able to visit the place of your ancestors and the place where they lived. Many people find this an irreplaceable experience and often allow Irish luck to play its part!! On your visit who knows what extra information you may glean - an unexpected family grave, or even better, a chance meeting with a distant, living relative. This could all be waiting for you on the shores of the Emerald Isle.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr wins rematch with Vardas2008-Nov-2

Chavez made up for his performance in the first encounter with Matt Vardas by dominating this 10-round super welterweight fight to claim a unanimous decision victory at Mandalay Bay last night.

In their previous July encounter Julio Cesar Chavez Jr took a controversial split decision, but this time he left no one in any doubt with convincing scores of 99-91, 97-93 and 98-92 from the three judges.

As was the case in the first fight, Chavez controlled the early and middle rounds but this time maintained the pressure to come out a deserved winner. Chavez Jr, the son of legendary Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, now has a record of 38-0-1 with 29 KOs.
