The Many Pleasures of St George Utah

Saint George Utah is one of the fastest growing towns in the United States today. There is a big draw to this once small town in Utah. Saint George now has the fastest growing population. In 2005, Saint George became the eighth largest city in the state of Utah. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Saint George grew from 49,728 people in the year 2000 to 67,614 in the year 2005.

 

One of the best things about Saint George Utah is that it has wonderfully beautiful natural scenery. It is the lowest part of the state and it is surrounded by mountains. The mountains are a beautiful red sandstone with black lava throughout the city. Snow Canyon is one of the best spots to view this phenomenon. This is a national park and it offers many hiking trails through red sand dunes and also the black lava tubes. The park is open daily and is very close to Saint George neighborhoods. There are also bike trails throughout and surrounding the park.

 

St George sits in the northeastern edge of the Mojave Desert and offers a great climate. Average temperatures in the month of July are usually around 102 degrees, making Saint George the hottest city in the state of Utah. Although somewhat hot in the day time during the summer months the nights are often cool and Saint George offers a relief from the colder states. During the winter the temperature drops below freezing overnight but during the day it quickly heats up again to around 50 degrees. There is some snow in Saint George but not very much. There is annually an average snowfall of 3.2 inches. Saint George also has summer monsoons. They average 8.27 inches of rain per year.

 

The beautiful climate in Saint George allows for many days of golfing. In Saint George there are actually ten golf courses. One of these courses is the Entrada at Snow Canyon. This is an amazing golf course. It was named on of the top ten courses in 1997. Entrada is also the # 2 golf course in the state of Utah. It offers a lush landscape and a backdrop of vibrant red cliffs and contrasting black lava beds. This is a year round course.

 

Another great attribute to the city of Saint George is the fact that it is only 119 miles from the gambling destination everyone wants to go to. Las Vegas, Nevada. Only a 90 minute drive away, Las Vegas offers a weekend getaway easily. There are also many great shows and concerts in Las Vegas and Saint George is just a short drive from there. Making it very appealing for a short trip.

 

There are many reasons for living in Saint George Utah. Education is a factor in the growth of the city. Saint George is the home of Dixie State College of Utah. There are three high schools in the city and numerous middle and elementary schools. Since the growth of the city has been on the incline there are plans for many new schools to keep up with the growth. Saint George offers a great family environment.

 

Saint George is a fast growing community with much to offer. Whether you are from the state of Utah originally or new to the state, Saint George will make you feel as if you are already home. There are great people there and they make great neighbors for you and your family. With an abundance of natural beauty and some great schools it is no wonder the city has grown as much as it has. Not to mention that the golfing is fantastic!
