Saint George Utah has been one of the fastest growing places in the United States. The real estate in Saint George Utah is one of the most sought after. St. George offers some beautiful landscapes and a wonderful close neighborhood feel that is bringing people to Utah’s Dixie at an amazing rate.
Known as Utah’s Dixie, St. George was first founded in 1860 by Mormon settlers. They were attempting to grow cotton in the area and it did not quite succeed. The region is too dry of a climate for cotton to grow well there. So when the cotton did not grow well enough for market the idea of cotton farming was abandoned. The Mormon settlers decided to stay in the area anyway and today that is why the local college is known as the Dixie State College.

St. George also offers places to go outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The Snow Canyon recreational park is located in St. George and has hiking and bike trails all through out it. Taking hours on a day off to walk around the red sand dunes and the ancient black lava tubes and learning to appreciate the natural history of the area can be very exciting. Even if you only need to walk around for a little while or just sit in your car and take in the beauty is easy enough, a day pass here costs around $5. Most residents have a seasonal pass for Snow Canyon. St. George is also the gateway to many other national parks in Utah such as Zion and Bryce. It is only a little bit away from Brian Head which is one of the best places for skiing or snow boarding.
The weather in Saint George is the hottest in the state. However it is a desert area and will have a desert climate. With temperatures around 102 degrees in July being the average one must remember that it is a very dry heat. It can get quite cold there during the night when temperatures drop but they quickly rise during the day in the intense sun light. The average rainfall in St. George is 8.27 inches yearly. All in all, St. George offers a mild climate for everyone.
One of the best things about St. George has to be its location. It is close to many national parks and only 119 miles away from one of the best destinations around. Las Vegas. With just a two hour drive from Las Vegas you could enjoy a weekend or a day in sin city. The town of Mesquite is also very close with in an hour or so and a person could enjoy gambling there at one of the resorts.
With so many great activities and amazing scenery in Saint George it is no wonder why so many have flocked to this city.
