It’s not a secret about the damages that tanning can have on your skin. Many people have faced many face problems while tanning, but there are many things that you can do to avoid the harmful effects that are associated with tanning, but still enjoy the wonderful look of being tan all year around.

First off the best way to avoid the harmful effects of the UV rays is to avoid it as much as possible. I know that it may seem as if it is a fake tan, but sunless tanning lotions have come along way. There are so many sunless tanning lotions that are available on the market today, and of course there are some that are better then other’s but it’s not going to look fake. Let’s not forget to mention that it’s much quicker to apply the lotion then it is to go to the tanning salon and lay there for 10 to 20 minutes. Tanning lotions are the absolute best way to get tan and protect your skin from the very harmful UV rays.

Alright if sunless tanning lotions are not even an option for you then let’s go over the different things that you can do to protect your skin from getting burnt by the sun.

The following tips are meant for outdoor tanning:

Tip #1: Putting on a good SPF lotion before going out in the sun is extremely important. Just because you have a sun block on does not mean you are not going to get tan. You are simply preventing yourself from getting sunburn. Did you know that you are not suppose to rub this SPF sun block completely into your skin? Well it’s true, you should leave some visible lotion on your skin for increase protection.

Tip #2: Tanning nearly everyday is too much sun for your skin, you should tan at a minimum of every two days because it will allow the melanin to produce.

Tip #3: Before you go out into the sun and put on your sun block you should be sure that you have no makeup on or any perfume. These ingredients will make you much more susceptible to getting sunburn.

Tip #4: Never lay out for any more then 30 minutes while the sun is at it’s hottest.

If you are anything like me you simply do not have the time to get out in the sun, so you are forced to go to the tanning salon and use one of the tanning booths. Just because you are in a tanning booth doesn’t mean you can’t protect your skin.

These following tips are meant for indoor tanning:

Tip #1: Using a booth with a low UVB rays will offer you a much better tan, and less of a chance for you to get burnt. And your tan will even last a lot longer using this type of tanning booth.

Tip #2: It’s important to protect your skin with a SPF, but you will also need to use a DHA cream as well. DHA will give you a better tan, but it will also offer your skin nutrient supplements that will help your skin glow.

Tips #3: Keep your draws on. I know the best part about using a tanning booth is that you don’t need to have your bathing suit on, but this is not safe. There are sensitive areas on your body that are not use to the exposure of UV radiations, and they will be more susceptible to getting sunburn.

I understand that it takes a little more time to put on sun block, but it’s important if you want to protect your skin from the harmful rays, and also prevent your health from getting cancer. We always think it will never happen to us, until it does.
