Its human nature for people not to want to do something that is too difficult or time consuming. But donating your car to a charity is neither of the two. It’s actually stress free. The organization will actually come to your house and tow your car away. This is free towing, and they take care of the entire process for you. There is nothing easier then this, and just think of how you are helping a group of people. You can be helping to put food, clothing and shelter to many individuals.

If your car has been sitting in your driveway for months or years and hasn’t run since then, you should begin learning more about how exactly you can donate your car as a charitable contribution. There are many different ways that these charities will use your donated car, and it often depends of a few different factors. A running vehicle may be used by the organization, to bring food to families in the area, or they may sell it to use to proceeds to help give families the proper education so they can better their family. If your car is currently not running, or if you don’t have the title for the car they will probably sell the car out for parts. It doesn’t matter how they use the car the most important thing is that it will be helping people that are in need.

There are six simple steps to donating your car:

Step #1:  You will need to do some thinking as to which type of charity that you will want to donate. Then perform a search with one of the major search engines, and research the different ones that are available. And if it doesn’t matter to you then you can find any organization right online.

Step #2: Once you decide which charity you want to donate your car to then you will need to fill out the donation form for that organization and provide them with all of the necessary information that is needed to process your donation. This form can usually be downloaded directly from their website.

Step #3: After they receive the donation form all you need to do is wait for them to respond to your donation request. This usually will take about seven days. At this point they are going to tell you how things work and set up a day to come and tow your car. You will need to be present on this day, so make sure you are going to be available.

Step #4: On the day that the towing service tows your car, remember this is absolutely free towing, they will give you a receipt that you can use as a tax deduction and to complete the donation you will need to sign a form. This form needs to be signed before they tow away your car.

Step #5: After this point your car will probably be auctioned off at an auction house. And once your car, truck, boat or RV has been sold you will be informed of that the sale was completed.

Step #6: About 28 days after the tow company towed your car away you will receive a donation receipt for the exact amount of the sale.

As you can tell donating your car is as simple as 1 2 3 and ABC, so begin looking up a charity that you can donate your car to and help out somebody. And let’s not forget to mention that it can also be used as a tax deduction and this will help you out around April 15th.
