More On Crowd Control
Have you ever been to a function like a concert or a trade show and there have been ropes and posts? Did you ever think about what these ropes and posts were for? They are for crowd control. Crowd control in large events like trade shows and concerts are very important. When too many people are in one area there is a risk of danger that the managers and promoters of the event would like to avoid. They want to keep every one attending the event completely safe. And to do that they choose to use crowd control methods like ropes and posts.
You have all seen these things. They are usually long velvet ropes that hook on to a post and create a sort of barrier to an entrance of some kind. They force people to stand in a line along the path the ropes and posts have created. This is a very effective method and it is very simple in theory also. By making a sort of “corral” for the people to all stand in, it eliminates the threat of any one or every one pushing forward to the front of the line. Sometimes people get very excited and tend to push forward. Well if those people in the front get pushed too much there could be some very serious injuries. This is what the event organizer wish to avoid. Having serious injuries occur at your event is very bad business and no one wants to be responsible for people getting hurt.
Ropes and posts are able to help with crowd control in a manner that is organized. By clearly putting ropes and posts in certain areas people can either tell that they are not supposed to be in an area or are supposed to line up in an orderly fashion to proceed into the event. When at a trade show you can use ropes and posts to keep people lined up in front of your area or to keep people away from certain parts of your area. If you have a very expensive display that you are all too happy to have people see but would rather not have them touch, using a ropes and posts display to keep them a safe distance from the display would benefit you. They will be able to see the display quite easily as the ropes and posts do not create any visual blockage but they would not be able to get close enough to the display to perhaps accidentally or intentionally cause any damage to it. This again can be viewed as a safety precaution.
Ropes and posts are also very good at crowd control when it comes to actually purchasing tickets to the trade show or event. Ropes and posts will keep people in an orderly line while they are buying their tickets to enter the event. There will be less fighting and pushing when people understand exactly how they are supposed to line up. It would be very difficult to determine who was next in line if there was nothing but a huge mob of people in front of the ticket window. Although we would like to think that most people know how to act in public it is not always true and in a large event you can be assured that there will always be some people who will ruin the calm and cooperation of others. These people are the reasons we would need to use safety measures like ropes and posts. To help keep the crowd under control, these are a very effective tool to use.
