Portable flag poles come in a number of styles. Portable flag poles can comprise a ground sleve (that has to be dug in) and the use guy ropes. The poles them selves are normally aluminium but may also be fibreglass. Greater flexibilty can be found with a water based flag pole. These have telescopic aluminium poles between 3m and 5m fixed into a large plastic base that can be filled to give the pole the necessary stablility. The flags used on these type of pole have rotating top arms to hold the flag out even when there is no wind.

Nowadays Feather flags, als known as tear flags and sail flags are very popular. These comprise a tapred fibreglass pole that bens and a shaped flag. They are available in different sizes and have a number of base solutions. These flag poles are available with a choice of ground spike, water base, cross base, or ground plate. Flags are printed onto lightweight material with the imgae seen in reverse of the back of the flag. These flag poles also have the advantage of displaying the flag when there is no wind.
