Crowd control is a necessity when there is a very large event like a concert or a trade show.  When one of these types of events or an event that is similar to them occurs you will need to make sure that you have some kind of crowd control.  A very simple tool to use for crowd control would be to use ropes and posts or retractable barriers.

Ropes and posts are very simple to use.  People have used ropes and posts for many years.  Think about some old movies that you have seen.  There is always a person outside of the movie theatre letting people in to certain areas of the movie theatre once they have paid for their ticket.  The crowd control tools that the old movie theatre employees used are called ropes and posts.  Yes they are the velvet covered ropes that hook onto a pole and blocks off a certain area.  This very simple yet effective tool works because many people know exactly what it is used for.  People will recognize that when ropes and posts are used it means that they can not cross into that area.  Now of course that does not mean that there will be sirens and bells that go off if someone does cross over the ropes and posts but the majority of people will know that when they see ropes and posts that they are not allowed in that area.  There will be the few that may desire to cross into an unauthorized area but that is when you need to have security in the area and they can handle that kind of situation.  But for the most part using ropes and posts as a tool to help manage crowd control is a wonderful idea and it is very, very effective indeed.

If ropes and posts are a little too dated for you and you do not like the vintage factor of the ropes and posts system then you should think about using retractable barriers.  They are of the same concept except that instead of using velvet ropes retractable barriers have vinyl straps that can be pulled out of the pole and hooked onto to another pole.  When you are done using the retractable barrier you can simple unhook the strap and it will coil back into the pole.  This retractable barrier system is good to use when you must move the posts around a lot and use them for many different events.  Their ease makes them very desirable for many events. 

If you are somewhere that you will keep your ropes and posts in the same spot for the majority of the time then you should use the ropes and posts system.  If you need to change a lot of the displays or if you need to constantly change where people can and can not go to then you should consider using retractable barriers.  If you have to constantly move your posts around and take them to different places using the retractable barriers is probably the best choice.

Using retractable barriers or using ropes and posts as tools for crowd control is a very wise idea.  They can be used over and over again and the majority of people know that when they see retractable barriers or they see ropes and posts then no one is allowed to go in that area.  Keeping people out of areas that they do not need to be in is a way to keep them safe and it is a way to maintain crowd control at all times.
