2007-Jul-16 - Weight Loss For Woman- By Women Who Know? |
Weight loss for woman by women who know .. what on earth is all that about? Well a while a go on my other blog and in my newsletter Dreambody Now I asked some of my clients for their favorite weight loss tips so here they are my top weight loss for woman tips for women by women.
I buy myself something really slinky and sexy and hang it where I can see it every day usually in my bedroom. The trick is that it can only be about one size too small - if it's any smaller than that, I just give up. But if the goal is just “that” close, it's a real motivator. -Janae, 24
Knitting works wonders. I used to snack like a pig while I watched T.V. at night. Since I started knitting, I've lost almost ten pounds, and I know it's because my hands are too busy to pop stuff in my mouth. -Lee 25
My top tip is sugarless gum. Whenever I have the urge for a snack or something sweet, I pop it into my mouth and start chewing. Works like a charm every time. -Maddison, 43
It tastes horrible, but it really works. My grandmother told me to take one teaspoon of cider vinegar before every meal to eat up the fats. - Daisy, 21
Great Friends There's nothing like feeling guilty for letting your friends down to make you get out and go exercise. I make dates to play tennis or go for a walk - no backing out when someone else is counting on me. -Cara, 22
I drink a full 12 ounce glass of water before I sit down to eat. It fills me up and I don't eat as much at meals. - Mary Ann, 27
All right, this is going to sound really silly but - when I have to lose weight, I only eat foods that I can eat with chopsticks. I'm not very good with them so -- I don't eat a lot. -Lisa, 32
When I'm sitting in traffic or at my desk, I do tummy tightening exercises. Just pull in your tummy, hold for a count of 20, and release. Do that about twenty times and you can really feel it. - Sheila, 52
I'm always rushing out the door and forgetting breakfast, and then I end up snacking at my desk halfway through the morning. Now I keep a box of Carnation Instant Breakfast in the break room, and fix myself one as soon as I get to work. No more craving goodies at 11 am. -Deb, 45
When I'm dieting, I keep fresh fruits and veggies all cut up and ready to go in little snack containers. If I went to all the work of making them, I'll eat them instead of grabbing a bag of chips on the go. -Amy, 16
I strip down naked and look at myself in the mirror at least once a week. It's easy to see the progress I made, and how much I still need to go. Vicky, 34
Water. I drink lots and lots of water when I'm on a diet. It helps flush out the system and keeps me feeling fresh. It also helps with the bad breath I get when I'm on a high protein diet. - Dena, 34

2007-Jul-16 - What's Your Strategic Weight Loss Sstem To Hep You Shed The Pounds? |
What does your strategic weight loss system entail, are you thinking of counting carbs, maybe considering the la system for weight loss, the points counting weight loss system or just hoping to chance it will work out some how?
One of the first things that you'll do when you decide to lose weight is to set a goal weight or you might have it also called a target weight . For most, that goal will be their 'ideal weight', but for many, that 'ideal weight' may be quite the wrong weight to be aiming for. There are several reasons why which I wil try and explain to you now.
Years of dieting or being overweight have the physiological effect of moving the body's concept of the 'ideal weight' from what is truly considered ideal by doctors and nutritionists.
The 'set point' is the weight at which your body naturally feels most comfortable. If you've been significantly overweight for a very long time, or if you've consistently 'yo-yoed', your body may respond to your initial weight loss by lowering its metabolism because it believes that you are starving to death.
This is a common problem with serial dieters and can make losing weight much harder than it needs to be for some people. This slowing leads to discouraging plateaus that often knock people off their diets entirely, and lead to regaining all or part of the lost weight.
Instead of aiming for an 'ideal weight' that calls for you to lose weight steadily for months or even years, many experts recommend aiming for shorter-term attainable goals. Since the bulk of diet research shows that most dieters lose weight steadily for about 12 weeks, then hit a plateau, that's the number that they suggest you aim for and when I put together the Dreambody Now System I used this fact in my planning of an ideal weight loss system also.
The strategy that many have found works best for them is one of alternating periods of weight loss and maintenance, each lasting 8-12 weeks.
Choose a realistic amount of weight that you can lose in 8-12 weeks. Figuring that the most reasonable and healthiest weight loss rate is 1-2 pounds per week, 30 pounds in three months is not an unreasonable target if you need to lose that much. Diet until you reach that goal, or for 12 weeks, whichever comes first, and then switch to a maintenance diet.
The Dreambody System works in this way and encourages you to eat normal and tasty food throughout which doesn't make it feel like a diet more an adjustment or slight change in your life style which can be a permanent change if you want it to be?
Why switch to a maintenance diet at that point? In part, you're giving yourself a 'breather', a break from more restrictive eating if the diet works that way.
The other part, though, is that you're re-educating your body and letting it establish a new 'set point'. Once you've maintained your new weight for 8-12 weeks, set another weight loss goal, and move back into weight loss mode.
By giving your body a break from 'starvation phase', you'll have overcome its resistance to losing more weight, and be back to dieting for 'the first two weeks' - the weeks that most people lose weight more rapidly. You'll also be giving yourself a chance to 'practice' maintaining your new, healthier weight.
Researchers have found that more than half of the dieters who take off significant amounts of weight do not maintain that weight loss once they go 'off' their diet. By practicing weight maintenance in stages, you'll be proving to yourself that you CAN do it, and removing a powerful negative psychological block.
This will work with any long-term weight loss diet, no matter the focus. You'll find it much easier to do if you choose a diet that has concrete 'phases', like the South Beach or the Atkins, since the weight loss and maintenance phases are clearly laid out for you to follow.
I personally have found my clients found these types of diets quite hard to stick to as they tend to be quite restrictive and I favor a system where you train the body and your mind to eat more sensibly all the time.
Regardless of the diet you choose, though, by alternating between weight loss phases and maintenance phases, you'll teach yourself and your body how to maintain a healthy weight..To Check at The All New Dreambody System Click Here

2007-Jul-16 - How To Avoid Gaining Weight During Holidays and On Vacation |
Are you worried about gaining weight whilst during the holidays or whilst on a summer or winter vacation?
It's a concern that bothers many men and women especially as they feel that much hard work done losing weight could easily be cancelled out in a few days.
In a recent study conducted by The National Institute of Health, the researchers discovered that, in reality, most people tend to only put on just slightly under one pound durng the holidays this could be a little more on vacation depending on what you eat but if you work at a desk job then chances are the additional activity will cancel most of the potential weight gain out anyway .
But what might shock you is the survey found that a person who is already overweight will average a whopping five pounds extra during a similar senario.
But it’s not all good news for even those who put on the minimum maybe 2-3 pounds if unlucky because the study also shows that we all tend to keep the pounds put on. In other words, over ten years, those not-so-much pounds, could lead someone to being overweight by 20 or 30 pounds everything else being equal.
So, what can we do in order to keep those extra pounds off? After all, our homes are usually filled with holiday pies, cakes and other goodies, and they can be pretty tempting—even for the most faithful of dieters and when on vacation we deserve a treat here and there don't we?
Here’s a few tips to get you through the holidays.
I'll Just Have A Little Taste.
Have you ever noticed that when you start eating a rich dessert it tastes so good, but by the last bite, you’ve had enough as they are normally very rich and filling? One way to keep the pounds down is just to enjoy a few bites that delicious cheesecake or chocolate fudge brownie.
No one says that you have to completely deprive yourself of holiday treats—just limit how much you eat this also applies on vacation try and avoid those restaurants with the all you can eat buffet or early bird 2 for ones. That double buffalo wings order can really screw things up for you.
Enjoy the Company, Not The Brownies!
Many people think of holiday parties in terms of the foods that they’ll get to eat (or have to avoid) instead of the real reason for the celebration—the company and conversation. If you keep yourself busy chatting with friends, you’ll be less likely to invade the snack table. This is even more true on vacation for example if taking a cruise you'll have food everwhere you turn try and confine eating to meals or healthy snacks.
Fill Up Before You Go.
You’ve likely heard the grocery store trick; don’t go shopping when you’re hungry because you’ll only end up buying more. Well, the same can work for holiday parties! Eat a lot of raw vegetables, and other healthy foods that will stick with you during the party and you’ll be less tempted to binge on the bad stuff also have good meals at regular meal times a few days before so you don't feel tempted to binge.
Drink Water and Lots Of It
If you were to add up the calories that you’ve probably consumed in sodas, fruit punches and alcoholic beverages at parties, you would likely be amazed. You can gulp down hundreds of calories without even realizing it if you’re not careful! Instead of one of these high-calorie drinks, make it a habit to drink water—which in itself will help flush out extra water weight. Also have a few glasses of water before going out for a meal as it will fill you up forcing you to eat less.
Create An Eating Schedule
It wouldn’t be fun—or realistic—to try and get through an entire party without at least sampling some of the treats. But instead of heading instantly to the food table and loading your plate—and then suffering the rest of the party because you want more—try spacing out your snacks for the entire time of the party. Plan on taking a nibble of something about every thirty minutes. Not only will it help you eat less, it will be a fun game that you can play with yourself also apply this same rule to drinking this is just as fattening and will creep up on you unexpectedly
Most importantly, remember that the holidays are meant for enjoyment. Don’t be too hard on yourself, and if you make a mistake, talk an extra long walk to work off those extra calories instead of beating yourself up over it most importntly whether on holiday or vacation you can avoid gaining weight but don't forget to have fun!

2007-Jul-11 - Fight Obesity With These Top Tips To Lose 10 Pounds |
If your worried about becoming obese or fighting obesity a good way to get started is to set yourself bite sized goals such as losing 10 pounds in a realtively short space of time say a few weeks.
Although some people find themselves dealing with more serious weight problems some as much as 100-200 overweight and more, most people who want to lose a little weight are relatively health or could be with just a little effort and direction.
If you want to lose 10 pounds, there's a good chance that those pounds were gained very slowly of the course of many months - the weight doesn't represent a problem as much as a few times during the past year where you overindulged (usually the holidays) and failed to make up for it.
If your problem is more drastic and you need to lose more weight you might want to check out my complete Dreambody System which will show you how to get the body of your dreams in 12 weeks or less.
Here are some tips to lose those first 10 pounds:
Decide When The Time Is Right
Weight loss involves very personal issues for most people, and is closely related to their self esteem. It is crucial that you attempt to lose 10 pounds at the appropriate time - at a time where you otherwise feel good and satisfied with your life.
If you try and lose 10 pounds during a period of time in your life where you have a lot of stress or other distracting things going on, you drastically increase your chances of failure, which will only make things worse.
Make Changes To Your Diet (Note I don't say go on a diet)
Try as much as possible to balance your diet. This doesn't mean that you have to starve yourself -- rather make a point of getting no more the 30% of your calories from fat. Eat more fruits and vegetables and try to add as much variety to your diet as possible. Try new things, and new meal ideas.
Keep Track Of Your Progress
The problem with dieting for many people, especially in the early stages, is that even if the diet is working they can't see any results. It's hard to really notice if you lose 1 pound. For this reason it's important that your track your progress, so you can have a good sense of the accomplishments you've made.
One of my favorite methods is to take daily photo's of yourself it might suprise you but you will find some times you will look thinner but infact of gained weight. But when you can see the results in front of you it is very motivational. (Tip : Keep the picture as your screen saver for the day suggest you don't take photo naked : >) )
By calculating how many calories you've eaten and how much you've burned through exercise each and every day, you can track how many calories (and ultimately how much weight) you are losing.
Don't become obssesed with calories just concentrate on the types and amount of food you eat cutting out 5 calories is not going to make enough difference to worry about. Forget points and carb counting too as this just confuses you.
Do It With Friends
A great and fun way to help you stick with your plan is to undertake your project of losing 10 pounds with a friend. Not only will you be able to provide support for each other and track each other's progress, but you'll be able to engage in fun exercise activities together.
I try and encourage people at work to start a group but if that is not possible you should choose a girl friend who doesn't look like a supermodel for support.
Make Your Plan Realistic and Achievable
It's important that you set achievable goals for yourself. For example, with just some basic changes in your lifestyle and eating habits, you can lose 1 pound a week. There's no need to be in a huge rush to lose weight, and trying to lose weight quickly often requires a regimen that is difficult to keep up for any real length of time. For most people, it is healthier to lose weight slowly than with drastic dietary changes. (Tip: Avoid Faddy Diets )
Many people would like to lose 10 pounds, and almost anyone can if they follow the advice above. By avoiding a "quick fix" and sticking with long term healthy choices, you'll find your project to lose 10 pounds will leave you not only thinner, but healthier and feeling better about yourself.
But if you need to Lose 10 Pounds quickly maybe for a party, or your are getting married or want to look great on the beach why not try my Lose 10 Pounds in 2 Weeks Weight Loss System.

2007-Jul-10 - Get On Your Bike To Lose 10 Pounds On For Free |
So you trying to lose weight and your thinking a good way to get started is to lose 10 pounds I doubt your thinking of using that old bike you have got going rusty in the basement or maybe going out on a sunday afternoon with the kids mountain biking.
It might come as no suprise to you but most people when they think about losing 10 or maybe 20 pounds in weight immediately think I must go on a diet. This fills thier mind with visions of unappetizing foods and hard exercise sessions in the gym.
But it doesn't have to be that way. If you're looking to lose 10 pounds while still having fun and getting some fresh air, look instead to what was probably one of your favorite childhood activities: bicycling.
There are many benefits to biking, but the main one and probably the most obvious one is that it's really the only form of exercise that can also function as transportation.Ok we could include things like canoing in there but lets be honest we don't all have access to water let alone a canoe.
The biggest reason I am told by clients they fail to lose weight is they just can't fit it in to their busy hectic lifestyle (funny how trips to fast food joints and restaurants always seem to fit in isn't it)
Lets imagine you plan is to lose 10 pounds so you sign up for gym membership costing a few hundred dollars and for the first few days you go every day. Yes I know that you want to get value for money so you push yourself when you first join.
But then a couple of weeks down the track you have to work late so you think you'll skip the gym, then a few days later you have to take the kids to football practice or ballet so you miss again.Eventually it becomes easier to put off going to the gym more often as then you need to go shopping, night out.... get the idea?
So you decide you are going to blow the gym out and instead of going to the gym to lose those 10 pounds you decide to bike to work. While it may take a little longer to lose the weight, by biking to work you're really losing no time at all.
If you live in a city there's a good chance that it's not going to take you a whole lot longer than a car trip does. So basically you get to lose 10 pounds "for free", as it were, because you don't have to make time for exercise.
Now that seems like a good idea don't you think?
When you engage in most other forms of exercise, you're engaging in it exclusively: you're not getting anything else done when you're at the gym apart from may be listening to a few of your favorite tunes on your IPOD.
With biking, on the other hand, the exercise is almost a secondary bonus to the primary function of getting somewhere you need to go. Add to this the fact that you're saving money on transportation and doing good for the environment, cutting out all those harmful carbon emmisons from your car, it's hard to argue against biking as one of the best forms of exercise.
By simply biking to and from work every day you should be able to lose 10 pounds fairly quickly without affecting your schedule too much. If your employer is a far enough distance away from you that you must drive, consider instead using a bike for errands outside of work.
If you want to really lose 10 pounds quickly, start biking for recreation too - some weekend bike riding will do wonders for weight loss and the kids will love it if you go with them on bike rides as well.
If you don't own a bike or live in a busy city where you don't feel safe to ride a bike you might prefer to try my 'Lose 10 Pounds in 2 Weeks Program' which will help you achieve fast weight loss with out dieting.

2007-Jun-13 - Brush Your Teeth For A Healthy Way To Stop Over Eating |
I came across this great tip a while ago and found that brushing your teeth really can really work as a way of helping stopping you over eating.
This trick is pretty simple...
Go brush your teeth as soon as you start feeling full (even if you haven't cleared your plate). Do a really through job of it brush (ideally with an electric toothbrush) , then floss and finish with a mouth wash . It is essential you don't miss out any of the steps ... really go the whole nine yards.
After you have done this, run your tongue over your teeth and feel how fresh and clean they feel your mouth will be feeling fresh and minty clean.
Make sure you do this routine as soon as you feel full after every meal. If for any reason you can't go and do the whole floss and rinse routine at least do the basic teeth cleaning. You can buy a small travel tooth brush and just carry a tube of tooth paste in your purse or leave it in the glove box in the car.
Have you been to the dentist recently or if not do you remember the last time you had your teeth descaled and polished at the dentist?
How did your teeth feel afterwards?
I am guessing pretty good... What was the very last thing you could think of doing after having your teeth professionally cleaned?
That's right eating and drinking ..
There was no way you were going to let food dirty you beautiful teeth was there?
Of course not. Well when you use this routine you will fell exactly the same there is not a chance in hell you will finish eating anything else on your plate or probably eat in the next few hours.
it's crazy after all it's only brushing your teeth for a healthy way to stop over eating but amazingly it works!
